Donnalee Downe is an artist and educator currently living in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. In 2012 she completed her Masters of Fine Art at Cardiff School of Art and Design, Wales where her practice-led research focused on knowledge issues related to arts practice. She explored the relationship between ‘virtual’ and ‘real’ worlds via archives to consider the perceived nature of representation in each realm.
Her current work continues to explore virtual and material archives and what we can claim to known based on experiences in each realm. Her work speaks to memory, time, and the processes involved in curating archived images and materials. She is interested in what is revealed and what is concealed when artists/archivists and viewers/participants make choices.
